NFL Goodell’s Hypocrisy Continued

If you remember, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell rejected the idea of Rush Limbaugh becoming a potential minority owner of the St. Louis Rams because of his “divisive comments”.

I’ve said many times before, we’re all held to a high standard here. I would not want to see those comments coming from people who are in a responsible position in the NFL –- absolutely not.
Roger Goodell to the New York Times

Never mind Keith Olbermann, who has repeatedly referred to Democrat policy protesters as “tea baggers”, and is still a commentator on a weekly, nationally-televised football broadcast bookmarked by the NFL logo, Goodell couldn’t allow people like Rush anywhere near the sport.

Sex offenders?

That’s another thing altogether….

Child abuse groups in Florida are asking the NFL to drop the British classic-rock band The Who from the upcoming Super Bowl’s halftime show. And one organization asked U.S. immigration authorities not to allow the band’s famed guitarist into the country.

Axman Pete Townshend, they point out, was arrested in 2003 in a roundup of alleged pedophiles cruising the Internet for pictures of infants and teens engaged in sex. He was placed on the United Kingdom’s sexual offenders list.

In a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Child AbuseWatch founder Evin Daly wrote: “Inviting Townshend to play is a blatant disregard to the values of… American families and a slap in the face to victims of child sexual abuse.”

In his response to Daly’s request to drop The Who, the NFL’s Joe Browne, head of public relation, pointed out that Townshend viewed one child abuse photo and didn’t download the material. Browne also wrote that Townshend has been known to support children’s charities. The NFL, Browne added, “has worked hard in recent years to ensure the (halftime show) is suitable for… mass audience.”

Pete Townsend can download all the kiddie porn (for “research”) he wants, is still blessed by the NFL to play the Super Bowl halftime, and Commissioner Goodell is silent.

As long as Townsend doesn’t become an American and vote Republican….
