We all know how much liberals "loathe" the military. Now that some won't bash their Commander-in-Chief and "the mission", let's just go after the troops.
One in three female soldiers will experience sexual assault while serving in the military, compared to one in six women in the civilian world. The Pentagon released a disturbing report Tuesday on sexual abuse in the military, saying that more than 2,900 sexual assaults were reported last year, up nearly 9 percent from the year before. Nearly two-thirds of the cases involved rape or aggravated assault.
Obviously no one here condones sexual assault, but with that, let's get a couple of things straight regarding this blatant hit job.
It was liberals like Katie Couric that pushed for women to be in combat positions. Some of us who've actually served have never felt that the military was the proper venue for social experimentation. Given the mission of the Armed Forces is to "kill in mass quantity" and not better define the roles of the sexes to match civilian traditions, such distractions, pardon the pun, pussify the men who should be about the business of warfare.
During earlier times of conflict, women were given important support roles, but the sexes weren't thrust together in a way that compromised the greater mission.
And if Katie Couric is so outraged about the sexual assault of women, maybe one day she'll show some real guts and have someone write (the byline reads "Katie Couric" but she wanted everyone to believe she remembered getting her first library card when her writer was later fired for lifting the words from someone else) about how disgusted she is by sexual assault in the entertainment industry.
Maybe she could show her personal disgust to Chris Brown or the manager of D12.
Oh, and being fair (as inconvenient as that would be) is something Couric seems to have neglected as she failed to put this in context. Again, as we're not sure if she wrote any of this, she can't totally be blamed.
The National Crime Victimization Survey (conducted every two years) found that at least 248,300 women were raped or sexually assaulted in 2007, up from 190,600 in 2005, the last year that the survey was conducted.
That looks like more than nine percent.
The survey included 73,600 individuals in 41,500 households. Violent crimes that increased included domestic violence, rape, and sexual assault.
So, IF Katie Couric wanted to be fair, she would compare per capita statistics, trends, and could come to a more informed conclusion. Then again if she did, the results didn't back up her agenda, she intentionally leave the national stats out…? Who knows.
And where is Katie Couric, speaking out about Muslim men, some who are already married, throwing girlfriends off of balconies? Has Katie Couric spoken out about "moderate" Muslim men who (in an effort to enlighten and show us that we've been wrong all along about them) stab and cut the heads off wives who expressed a desire to leave an abusive relationship?
No, that would take guts.
It's much easier to take on young soldiers, who may not have permission to fully answer her questions, and smear an entire community whose only goal is to keep the United States free so Katie Couric doesn't have to take a serious cut in pay (if she'd be allowed to work at all) and wear a burqa.
Let's hope when her contract comes do, since her ratings still suck considering the money she earns, CBS may opt to hire someone who can write her own copy, not make shit up, and at least attempt to show some respect for people who volunteered to something she would never have the guts to do.
