Here's a stupid piece by the Los Angeles Times, praising The Industry for including more blacks on reality television.
Despite decades of public pressure on the major networks to diversify, the lead characters in all but a few of prime-time scripted shows this season are still white — and usually young and affluent. In contrast, reality programs consistently feature a much broader range of people when it comes to race, age, class and sexual orientation.
Reality television. The totally respectable parcel of Hollywood productions that reflect the best in American society.
"We're looking to create shows that everyday people can relate to, and for that you really need a true representation of the population," said Dave Broome, executive producer of NBC's "The Biggest Loser."
Do we all have an 's' for stupid on our heads?
Reality shows are cheaper to produce. Reality contestants aren't "stars" that have agents haggle multi-million dollar contracts for days. I'll bet they happily take what they're offered as it may open a door later.
Enough of all these Hollywood liberals talking about their diversity and tolerance. They're not exactly leading by example. Not like we've ever been expected them to.
Very few minorities are making Friends money.
Nice try.
