Winter Hits the Mitten

Posted by Doug Powers On November - 30 - 2008

Normally I don’t post personal pictures because I don’t want anybody to get that sinking feeling you have when you’re at somebody’s house and they whip out the family photo album, so I beg your forgiveness for just a moment.

We’re getting our first major snowfall of the winter, and I was outside at dusk taking a picture of the snow covered pine trees and the flash on the digital camera reflected off the snow and made an effect that I thought was pretty cool — or maybe I’m just getting old:

And a little earlier, what winter day would be complete without heading over to the football field to indulge in our hobby of kicking field goals. Here’s my son trying about a 20-yarder:

The Tin Foil Files

Posted by Bob Parks On November - 30 - 2008

It will only be a matter of time that Barack Obama may come to appreciate the more reasonable Republican base to his gimme-gimme, liberal devotees.

UFO enthusiasts are pressing Barack Obama to release classified documents about sightings of alien spacecraft, encouraged by support from within the President-Elect's own White House team.

Desperate to see the US emulate the British Government and disclose reported "contact" with UFOs, the enthusiasts have written to Mr Obama to ask that his administration comes clean about the contents of America's "X-Files".

First of all (to author Mr. Shipman) there is no hyphen in The X Files. As an employee at Fox when it first appeared, I have my suspicions as to the unauthorized hyphen's origin.

Secondly, I find it interesting how many demands are being made of the "First" Black President. I don't seem to recall this many demands being made on white speakers or presidents. Maybe it's just who the liberals really are.

The T-Word

Posted by Bob Parks On November - 30 - 2008

It's amazing just what this whole Barack Obama birth certificate mess has come down to.

Each member of the Electoral College, who is committed to casting a vote on December 15, 2008, has a constitutional duty to make certain you are a natural-born citizen. As of today, there is no evidence in the public record (nor have you provided any) that defeats the claim that you are barred by law from assuming the Office of President because you fail the Constitution’s eligibility requirements.

All state Electors are now on Notice that unless you provide documentary evidence before December 15, that conclusively establishes your eligibility, they cannot cast a vote for you without committing treason to the Constitution.

If this turns out to be a non-issue, then Republicans will have a lot of mud on their faces. But if true, Obama will have perpetuated a fraud of such monumental proportions that the only recourse the left will have is to propose a change to our Constitution, just to avoid admitting that they had been had by a phony.

Dr. Rice should fit in just fine with the America haters.

Obama And Economic “Climate Change” Suicide

Posted by Bob Parks On November - 30 - 2008

As we know liberals would much rather cast themselves off the Golden Gate Bridge before admitting they were wrong about anything, Barack Obama's committing of the United States to a "climate change" leadership posture should be considered nothing less than economic suicide.

Tomorrow, delegates from 190 countries will meet in Poznan, Poland, to pave the way for next year's UN conference in Copenhagen at which the world will agree a successor to the Kyoto Protocol on climate change. They will see a video of Mr Obama, in only his second major policy commitment, pledging that America is now about to play the leading role in the fight to "save the planet" from global warming.

What a putz.

Mr Obama begins by saying that "the science is beyond dispute and the facts are clear". "Sea levels," he claims, "are rising, coastlines are shrinking, we've seen record drought, spreading famine and storms that are growing stronger with each passing hurricane season."

Far from the science being "beyond dispute", we can only deduce from this that Mr Obama has believed all he was told by Al Gore's wondrously batty film An Inconvenient Truth without bothering to check the facts. Each of these four statements is so wildly at odds with the truth that on this score alone we should be seriously worried.

Those of us in the world that can READ and REASON know, despite Al Gore's assurances, the dearly departed "global warming" turned "climate change" is something beyond the haughty influence and manipulation of narcissistic liberals and the RINO attention-starved.

Man's notion that his science can realign the stars, adjust the orbit of planets and reorganize the universe leads him to say silly things and assert goofy claims.

Global warming, er, climate change believers are becoming the OJ-was-innocent laughing stocks of this decade. What is of concern should be what Obama is committing America's fragile economy to, in the name of (climate) change.

Partisan Executive Orders

Posted by Alan Korwin On November - 30 - 2008

The lamestream media told you:

“AP — Jesse Jackson Concerned About Bush’s Last Months — The Rev. Jesse Jackson said he is concerned about executive orders from president Bush in his last few months in office and the effect they could have on the incoming administration… he also criticized the federal bailout of the financial industry and called for Bush to help the ailing auto industry.” http://tinyurl.com/6cfod5

The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:

While Mr. Jackson is concerned about president Bush’s executive orders, half the country is concerned about a mountain of executive orders Barack Obama is expected to release immediately on taking office. A team is known to be working on masses of these, a point Jackson omitted in his partisan political comments after a church sermon, fawningly reported by lamestream reporters. Experts expect him to say nothing about these when they are released — but the Uninvited Ombudsman plans to.

Executive orders are supposed to be a minor tool for running an office but have morphed to an entire legislative branch of government not found in the Constitution. No arrests have been made, no investigations are planned, and neither party seems to mind since they are equally guilty of the tactic.

In other news, Jackson criticized the Wall Street bailout, even though that is on hold while the czars who have seized control of the federal treasury backtrack and try to decide what to do with the galaxy-class fortune Congress gave them without oversight. Why Jackson would criticize one bailout and support another was unclear. Jackson has no known credentials in economics or high finance, a factor the lamestream media overlooked in covering the statements from the monochrome victimhood promoter, alleged for decades to be a racist and extortionist.

In other news, Jackson, who is unrelated to Michael Jackson, Michael Jordan, Andrew Jackson and Action Jackson, apologized for nasty remarks he made about Barack Obama, saying he didn’t know his remarks were being recorded.

Burgeoning Bailout Balderdash

Posted by Alan Korwin On November - 30 - 2008

The lamestream media told you:

Experts say our economy must be retooled. Economic leaders are meeting to discuss how to save the economy. The auto industry must be bailed out and saved so it can operate, say insiders. We need more hundreds of billions of dollars to save the planet, or the country, or the economy, or something. We might need more money after that.

The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:

Top-down thinking of the kind being featured on the front pages of all American newspapers is contrary to capitalism and the American business model. People who think they can sit in a office or at a meeting with other like-minded individuals and make accurate and workable rules for running industry or “an economy” are fools of the worst order. The media apparently did not get that memo.

For all the reporting about sums that are too large for any human being to comprehend, there is almost no news on who exactly should get the money, why the number is 700 instead of 800 billion, no loooonng lists of firms that would get checks of your money, exact controls over the funds, any semblance of oversight, just nothing meaningful besides big numbers and wild speculations that don’t match each other. The dam has burst, every firm with teams of lawyers and accountants is bellying up to the trough that overfloweth.

The only people who can run businesses are the people who run businesses. The daily grind of making decisions based on on-hand information, supply and demand, workfloor data, buying trends, available goods, competitor activity, are business managers. This something no politician can do. Even if they have hope. Most don’t even have business experience of any kind.

If you want to fix “an economy” you need businesses that can grow, provide jobs, and do the things that make business work, not hand-out money confiscated from taxpayers to businesses that aren’t running right. I have to tell you this? And taking money from the people, so you can hire unemployed members of the people (like Obama is promising to an undefined 2.5 million people) is not only flat-out socialism, it’s beyond stupid because there’s no way for that to work. A dog that eats its tail gets no net nutrition.

The only sure-fire methods for boosting “the economy” requires doing things that boost the economy:

–Develop a new product or service that everyone wants and sell gazillions of them

–Develop a new product or service that works much better than an existing product

–Develop a new product or service that costs much less than en existing product

–Develop a new product or service that works much better than an existing product or service — at the same cost, a lower cost or a greater cost

–Find an unfulfilled need people have and fill it

–Provide and existing product or service faster than an existing product or service

–Sell your existing products or services at prices well below what your competitors sell them for

–Sell your existing products or services to entire markets that can’t get them now, say, in Africa, or Asia.

–Create a demand for a product that people didn’t know they wanted until you created the demand

News media didn’t get that memo either, and continues to call for “leaders” to travel and eat expensive meals while sequestered with each other in meetings, and issue press releases after the meeting, before meddling with people who are running businesses and providing real jobs, goods and services.

These liberals are very confused

Posted by Eye Doc On November - 30 - 2008

I mean, Mr. Hope and Change hasn’t even taken office yet and the far left-wingers are already freaking out thinking Obama might actually try to lead from the center.

In one posting that seemed to echo in the Internet community, liberal blogger Chris Bowers wrote, “I feel incredibly frustrated. … Isn’t there ever a point when we can get an actual Democratic administration? Why isn’t there a single member of Obama’s Cabinet who will be advising him from the left?”

Uh, dude, the majority of the people Obama has selected to be part of his cabinet are former members of Bill Clinton’s adminstration such as  Rahm Emanuel, John Podesta, Larry Summers, Janet Napolitano and of course, Hillary Clinton. Last time I checked, Bill Clinton’s was a “Democratic administration”, so your statement makes absolutely no sense. And if you think they’re isn’t anyone in Obama’s cabinet leading from the left you’re not paying attention. Tom Daschle is certainly pretty far to the left on health care policy.  And,  driving us all into some sort of  nationalized health care system is going to be one of Obama’s top priorities come January 20th.

Christopher Hayes, the Washington-based editor of The Nation, offered his own lament about a lack of progressive candidates for prominent leadership spots. He said the left has been right about Iraq, financial deregulation and global warming, and yet “no one who comes from the part of American political and intellectual life that has given birth to all of these ideas is anywhere to be found within miles of the Obama Cabinet so far.”

The left has been consistently wrong about Iraq. We’ve won the war, and will be withdrawing our troops from the country. They’ve been wrong about global warming from the start, and they’ve been wrong about financial deregulation causing our economic problems when it’s been race based financial engineering that’s been the problem, and the Democrats have fought tooth and nail to keep Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac from being regulated in the first place. These leftists are so delusional they need to be locked up for their own safety (and ours).
