Opinion Matters

The media is furiously spinning for Barack Obama trying to whitewash Obama’s relationship with the well known Weatherman terrorist Bill Ayers claiming that they were not close.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin on Saturday slammed Sen. Barack Obama’s political relationship with a former anti-war radical, accusing him of associating “with terrorists who targeted their own country.”

No, Palin is not “accusing” Obama of associating with Ayers. It is an established fact that Obama had a close association with Ayers, not a mere accusation.

Palin’s attack delivered on the McCain campaign’s announcement that it would step up attacks on the Democratic presidential candidate with just a month left before the November general election.

“We see America as the greatest force for good in this world,” Palin said at a fund-raising event in Colorado, adding, “Our opponent though, is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect that he’s palling around with terrorists who would target their own country.”

Palin made similar comments later at a rally in Carson, California. CNN Fact Check

Obama’s Chicago, Illinois, home is in the same neighborhood as Bill Ayers, a founder of the radical Weather Underground, which was involved in several bombings in the early 1970s, including the Pentagon and the Capitol, and the two have met several times since Obama’s 1995 campaign for a state Senate seat.

No, Obama and Ayers did not just meet several times since Obama’s 1995 political campaign. Barack Obama and Bill Ayers met before Obama ever ran for office.  Not only that, but Barack Obama  started his campaign for state senate at the home of Bill Ayers where they discussed political strategy. Bill Ayers then gave Obama his first campaign contribution.

In the early 1990s, Obama attended a fundraiser for his state senate campaign at the couple’s home in the same Hyde Park neighborhood where he lives. Ayers once donated $200 to an Obama campaign for the state legislature.

Bill Ayers and Barack Obama then went on to serve on the board of the left wing not for profit organization The Woods Fund.  Bill Ayers had previously founded the left wing organization The Annenberg Challenge, tapping Barack Obama to run it. The Annenberg Challenge received millions of dollars in taxpayer money and accomplished absolutely nothing as far as improving the quality of Chicago’s schools.

I’m sure they’ll be more to write about Barack Obama’s relationship with Bill Ayers in upcoming days. But, the truth is that Barack Obama and Bill Ayers were close. In fact, Barack Obama obviously shares the same radical left wing ideology that Bill Ayers does or Ayers would never have helped him start his political career, and would not have hand picked him to serve on the boards of the Woods Fund and Chicago Annenberg Challenge.
