Obama campaign throws thousands of American flags in garbage

If you haven’t heard this story yet, Hot Air has all the details, including the spin from the Obama campaign which turns out to be a complete and total lie.

Democrats brought out tens of thousands of American flags to Invesco Field, saluting Barack Obama as he spoke from the Styrofoam columns of the Barackopolis at the conclusion of the Democratic convention.  Perhaps some of them took the flags home as souvenirs, but where did the rest go?  According to David Harsanyi, they went into the trash — and would have gone to a landfill, except for a worker at Invesco who rescued them from the dumpsters:

This morning, Republicans tell me that a worker at Invesco Field in Denver saved thousands of unused flags from the Democratic National Convention that were headed for the garbage. Guerrilla campaigning. They will use these flags at their own event today in Colorado Springs with John McCain and Sarah Palin.

Before McCain speaks today, veterans will haul these garbage bags filled with flags out onto the stage — with dramatic effect, no doubt — and tell the story.

Didn’t anyone make arrangements for better disposal of these flags from Invesco?  At the very least, they were an investment that could have been re-used at rallies in Colorado as well as the rest of the nation during the general election.  Instead, they’ve handed a dramatic moment to John McCain and Sarah Palin, as well as relieved them of the cost of 12,000 such flags —as well as a full 3′x5′ flag that also wound up in the trash.

But, don’t you dare question their patriotism!

I was unable to watch much of the GOP Convention and of course, the liberal media would never mention this but were they able to actually do this?

It is also my understanding that the great O does not say the pledge to the flag nor does he wear the US flag lapel pin because he does not “want to take sides” If this be the case, I wish someone could give him a message from me….I WANT my president …the POTUS to take sides…OUR SIDE!

    DISGRACEFUL!!!!
Those flag should have been taken care of in the proper way.
I think they were just put out with the trash just the way the dems feel about our wonderful Country.

    Americans love their flag.

Carley Simon, springs to mind. ‘You’re so Vain’.
“You gave away the things you loved, and one of them was me”

Bought with their own money. Just wait ’til they get their hands on YOUR’s.

I’m two years older than Obama, and I remember as a teen growing up in the shadow of the Vietnam war, and that it wasn’t that cool to be a flag-waver. But just two years after I graduated high school came the “Reagan Revolution.” Voting for Reagan in 1980 was the first time I ever voted, and how exciting it was to vote for a man who went on to lead and represent our country so well, in good times and in crises.

Fast forward thirty years and I feel like I owe something to my country for having given me the opportunities and freedoms we take for granted here. I regret that I never served in the Armed Forces in order to show that appreciation.

So, I understand how Obama may have been turned off to patriotism at a young age, but what I don’t sympathize with, is that he apparently never turned the corner to becoming a patriot himself, and now for a guy who came from pretty common, unglamorous roots he’s become such an elitist in his cocktail party snickering at the poor uneducated masses who love the country circuit of friends and fellow elitists.

So what makes him think that he has a right to be our president when he shows such disdain and condescension for the country and its patriots. Just because he wants a better looking resume doesn’t give him the right to hold this high office.
