Another false rape claim, but look on the bright side…

Posted by Glenn Sacks On July - 18 - 2008

Yet another false rape claim–readers send me so many I don’t even have room for most of them. In this case, I’m glad the mythical “man in his mid-30s with blond hair and a goatee” wasn’t the victim of vigilante justice or police manhandling.

Rest assured that justice will be done–the woman is being charged with a class A misdemeanor. Punishments might include a stern look from the judge, a lecture not to do it again, or a fine definitely exceeding $50.

One positive in this article–at least (mercifully) we were spared the inevitable quote from the feminist rape crisis center director or police detective telling us how false claims are bad, not because they harm innocent men but because they may discourage real victims from coming forward.

From Clearfield police say teen lied about church rape (Deseret News, 6/27/08):

Clearfield police said a teenage girl’s claims that she was raped in the middle of a church parking lot in broad daylight are false.

In a statement sent to the Deseret News on Friday, Clearfield Assistant Police Chief Greg Krusi said laboratory test results and other evidence analyzed did not match up with the girl’s claims about being attacked.

“The juvenile was formally interviewed again by investigators at which time she admitted to fabricating the story due to personal issues occurring in her life,” Krusi wrote.

The alleged rape was reported in May when the girl said she had dropped off a friend at a nearby apartment complex. She pulled into the church parking lot at 1985 S. Main to pick up some things that had fallen off a seat in the van she was driving. That’s when she said a man entered her car, overpowered her and raped her.

The rape claim had police frantically searching for the man. They even released a police sketch of a man they described as in his mid-30s, with blond hair and a goatee. The girl said the man may have sustained a hand injury in the attack.

Now the girl faces criminal charges.

“Clearfield police detectives screened this case with the Davis County Attorney’s Office and they will be charging the female juvenile in juvenile court with filing a false police report, a class A misdemeanor,” Krusi wrote

I agree that that is the most she will get. I also contend that as long as that is all a false accuser gets that we will see more of these false accusations.

I also agree that they do not care about the person who was falsely accused. Society has NOT learned a lesson from the Duke incident that cost millions of dollars to the families of the falsely accused, a DA his job (although he certainly helped in this) and law suits to the university and local government, increased racial tensions and the whole team a season of a sport that some were counting on to put them through college by the scholarships they had. (Contrary to popular believe, not all the students at Duke are rich)

The accuser was not changed and I do believe dear old Al Sharpton paid her way through college. (Notice we have not seen his nor Jessie’s face to give an apology to these men for being ready to lynch them)

Anyone who willfully accuses another of a crime they know they did not commit should have the same level of crime assessed against them with the same penalty the falsely accused would have gotten had they been convicted.
