Apparently My Criticisms of Obama’s Trashing of Black Fathers Makes Me a…

…Racist. In my recent blog post Obama Again Bashes Fathers I wrote:
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama decided to mark Father’s Day by bashing fathers, particularly black fathers. Obama said fathers have “have abandoned their responsibilities, acting like boys instead of men.” He is pictured above during the speech…Obama put all blame for family breakdown squarely on men. This is beyond ludicrous. It’s doubtful that many dads wake up in the morning and say to themselves, “My child loves me and needs me, my wife/girlfriend loves me and needs me–I’m outta here.”
Despite the stereotype of the feckless and irresponsible male, research shows that the vast majority of divorces as well as many break-ups of unmarried couples are initiated by women, not by men. Yes, some mothers have good reasons for these breakups. Yet, as Jonetta Rose Barras, the African-American author of Whatever Happened to Daddy’s Little Girl, explains, many black fathers are simply being “kicked to the curb.”
Another major part of black fatherlessness is that the women often have kids without ever having any intention of having a father in the kids’ lives.
African-American blogger LorMarie didn’t take kindly to this. In response she wrote:
What is ludicrous is that this is a blog by a white man claiming to be concerned about issues facing black men (thus the inclusion of this article as well as others). Historically and presently, the biggest foe of black men is white men. The posture behind this so- called concern for black men is so pretentious that it’s sickening. Start treating black men as your equal before attempting to criticize one. Obama’s comments pale in comparison to the problems that white males cause for black males. Stop pretending to be allies.
I’ve defended black fathers on many occasions over the years and have encountered this response a few times before. I can’t say it makes much sense to me.
One more point–if I had agreed with Obama that black fathers are rats, I bet I’d be called a “racist” too…

Actually, as a black man looking back at my experiences, in this society the biggest foe to black men are black women.
I agree, DKSanctuary.
I’m a white man who marched with King for black rights, only to see black men betrayed by black women, who chose welfare and single motherhood over creating a family with black men.
I make that observation with a very sad heart.
And white women are now doing the same thing to white men.
Black and white fathers need to work together to re-establish our rights in the family.
Yes Glen, if Obama said what you said, and you said what Obama said, then you would still be a racist.
Sure, he may be selling the same old “her choice, his fault” garbage feminists like Joe Biden have been selling for decades, but now if you don’t agree you’re not only a sexist but a racist too!
Besides, Obama thinks whatever his wife tells him to think, so it’s her you’re opposing, not him, and once you learn that, then aha, it’s clear you are a sexist, or does that make you a racist, or a racisexist, or a sexiracist, because gender trumps race, or is it race trumps gender, or … whatever, no wonder liberals couldn’t decide who to vote for, you should just stop judging people based on the content of their character and you’ll be ok!
It’s called “hope, for a change”, get it? Good luck with that!
On a more positive note, we have a potential president who admits fathers matter, even if he insists on being stuck on stupid by blaming them for mother’s choices and blaming dads when mothers take bribes from government to have fatherless children, and maybe we will be lucky enough to get a huge influx of black fathers who don’t want to take the blame for having no rights regarding their children.
