There’s a sequel to the John Kerry “botched joke” from a while back, but this insult to members of the U.S. military stars writer Stephen King and was made early last month.

King does a good job of teaching how to turn a pro-literacy speech into an anti-servicemember insult:

I don’t want to sound like an ad, a public service ad on TV, but the fact is if you can read, you can walk into a job later on. If you don’t, then you’ve got, the Army, Iraq, I don’t know, something like that. It’s, it’s not as bright.

Forget the fact that those I know personally who serve and have served in the military are some of the smartest people I’ve ever met — I’d certainly stack their intellect up against Stephen King’s any day of the week. And I’m damn sure they could write a more entertaining book than Gerald’s Game.

There’s something inherently disdainful and pathetic about insulting the very people you’re hiding behind as they keep you safe and free to be a total ivory tower moron.

Maybe King’s thinking is that anybody who is willing to put his or her life on the line to protect the likes of idiots such as himself can’t be very intelligent, and it would be hard to argue with that logic.

Certain breeds of liberals are so incredibly selfish and narcissistic that they are incapable of interpreting any act of bravery, selflessness or sense of national duty as anything but the product of a lack of intellect.
