2 Men Go to Prison over Teen Girl’s Lie–and More on the Way

Posted by Glenn Sacks On May - 31 - 2008

From Man Sentenced To Prison After Girl’s MySpace Page Lies About Age (WFTV, 5/21/08):

“A 13-year-old girl’s sexual shenanigans have put a second man behind bars. Morris Williams, 22, told the judge he thought the girl was 18-years-old, but he found out Tuesday that ignorance is not a defense.

“Morris Williams’ mother wailed as he went off to jail. The judge asked for media not to show 13-year-old Alisha Dean’s face in court, but her pictures are all over her MySpace page and they portray a sexy, 19-year-old divorced woman.

“‘She told me she had just turned 18,’ Williams said.

“Williams said Dean picked him up on the street and after a few conversations they had sex. When he heard she was not 18, he went to her father.

“‘He was like ‘well, she’s 13,’ Williams said of a conversation with Dean’s father.

“Williams said he never did it again, but Dean has done it before with 24-year-old Darwin Mills. Mills was sentenced to five years in prison.”

OK, Morris Williams and Darwin Mills are idiots, but this is ridiculous–six years of prison between them and the only person they “harmed” is the person who victimized them. And I love the way the reporter refers to it as “a 13-year-old girl’s sexual shenanigans.” “Shenanigans”? Ha ha, it’s a real riot.

One of the Worst Fathers I’ve Ever Seen

The worst person in this whole story is the girl’s father, Jerry Dean. Williams came to him when he learned the girl was not 18, and what did the father do? Turn him in, apparently. Then he has the goddamned call to “want Williams to join Mills” in prison!? Yet this creep’s 13-yerar-old daughter is out having sex with adult strangers, advertising herself to them and luring them into a trap–and he apparently has nothing to say about it. (The article doesn’t mention the mother but I strongly suspect she’s of the same caliber as the father.)

And get this–”Dean’s family admits Alisha still stays out late and has yet to delete her misleading MySpace page.” As the latest victim’s stepdad says, “I guess we just sit back and count how many after this.”

“We tend to idealize mothers when it comes to sex in that fathers are more likely to be portrayed as being unfaithful and being promiscuous. In reality, though, women in our country are almost as likely as men to commit adultery and are more likely to leave a marriage because they have fallen in love with someone else.”– Dr. Linda Nielsen, President of the American Coalition for Fathers & Children

ACFC President Dr. Linda Nielsen, author of the book Embracing Your Father, wrote an academic paper for the Journal of Divorce & Remarriage called Disenfranchising, Demeaning, and Demoralizing Divorced Dads : A Review of the literature several years ago. One of the paper’s most interesting sections is about idealizing mothers and motherhood–to the detriment of fathers.

It is excerpted below. Nielsen has many citations to support her arguments–I have removed them but they can be found on page 5 of her paper.

Idealizing Mothers and Motherhood, to the Detriment of Fathers
Dr. Linda Nielsen

Another way of demoralizing fathers is by representing motherhood in overly idealized ways. For example, mothers are often portrayed as the more virtuous, honest, unselfish, and self-sacrificing parent. And motherhood itself is typically presented as the most perfect, the most intense, and the most ideal love that any adult can have for a child.

Then too, we tend to idealize mothers when it comes to sex in that fathers are more likely to be portrayed as being unfaithful and being promiscuous. In reality, though, women in our country are almost as likely as men to commit adultery and are more likely to leave a marriage because they have fallen in love with someone else.

Many of us also seem to be the most forgiving and most understanding when it is the woman who commits adultery. That is, when a mother commits adultery, we are more likely to tell ourselves that she “couldn’t help it” because she was so lonely or so misunderstood by her husband.

Not surprisingly then, too many children wrongly believe that it was their father, not their mother, who caused the divorce by being unfaithful or by falling in love with someone else. And sadly it seems that too many children end up with little or no relationship with their father after divorce partly because they have such idealistic notions about mothers and motherhood.

Earth Day Follies

Posted by Alan Korwin On May - 31 - 2008

The lamestream media told you:

April 22 was Earth Day, when all reasonable people praised and worshipped Mother Earth, danced gaily with renewable organic flowers in their hair, adopted the deepest principles of self-sacrifice environmentalism — which has been proven to be a scientific fact — and conserve, reuse, recycle, reduce and lower their standard of living to save the planet and achieve equality through self sacrifice. If man-and-woman-kind weren’t inherently evil consumers of Earth’s bounty, led by the U.S. and industrialized oppressor nations with a high standard of greed, this wouldn’t be needed in the first place.

The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:

An unknown number of people worldwide, suspecting hypocrisy in stories about Earth Day, have named April 22nd as “Exploit the Earth Day,” led by a clever band of merry men and one Craig Biddle, who The Uninvited Ombudsman does not know. According to Biddle:

“‘Exploit the Earth or die. It’s not a threat. It’s a fact.’ Either man takes the Earth’s raw materials — such as trees, petroleum, aluminum, and atoms — and transforms them into the requirements of his life, or he dies. To live, man must produce the goods on which his life depends; he must produce homes, automobiles, computers, electricity, and the like; he must seize nature and use it to his advantage. There is no escaping this fact. Even the allegedly ‘noble’ savage must pick or perish. Indeed, even if a person produces nothing, insofar as he remains alive he indirectly exploits the Earth by parasitically surviving off the exploitative efforts of others.”

During intensive questioning, Counterintuitive Man said, “Biddle’s right,” and added, “Atoms includes but is not limited to carbon atoms, and Biddle forgot to mention food — you need to exploit earth’s resources for food.” Too many people fail to exploit earth for food and starve, he notes, leading to calls for funding from nations that do exploit earth for food.

Domestic violence defense expert John McLaughlin of Borders, McLaughlin & Associates sent me the story below about teacher Gregory Abbott (pictured), whose wife apparently tried to frame him. She and/or her boyfriend planted a shotgun and some marijuana in his car while he was at school teaching, and made numerous fake police reports.

Abbott was arrested but, thankfully, the police figured out the ploy and, to their credit, publicly proclaimed the Abbott’s innocence

According to McLaughlin, “They are having a custody dispute and she has been trying to set him up for a while.”

Anybody wanna wager that she’ll end up getting custody? Wouldn’t surprise me…

The article is below. I like the way Abbott’s students supported him. He must be good with kids–perhaps the judge in the custody case will note that.

Set-up teacher: ‘It turned out better than I thought’
High school teacher Greg Abbott, whom police believe was framed with drugs and gun, says he’s grateful for those who believed in him.

By KIMBERLY EDDS
THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 5/29/08

FULLERTON – The teacher arrested and then cleared in what authorities now describe as an elaborate setup said this morning that his mood had swung from paranoia and fear to gratitude for the support he received.

“It’s hard to describe how I feel right now, going from the lowest low to the highest high within three days,” Greg Abbott said in a phone interview. “It turned out better than I thought it would. … It was the best-case scenario.”

Police arrested Abbott on Tuesday after finding an unloaded shotgun and marijuana in his Jeep Cherokee in the parking lot at Sunny Hills High School in Fullerton. Authorities now say Abbott was the victim of a plot to bring him down. He does not face any charges.

Police have named Abbott’s wife, Devon E. Abbott, and a male acquaintance as persons of interest.

The Abbotts filed for divorce in February 2007, but the case has not been finalized, according to Orange County Superior Court records. The couple has one child.
There were a flurry of 911 calls to several police agencies urging an investigation of the 31-year-old Placentia man, police said…

“When they arrested me, I was paranoid, worried, scared and trying to figure out what happened, and how it could be,” Abbott said. “I didn’t know what was going on until 4 p.m. (Thursday). I thought they were building a case against me.”

Abbott said he had received supportive e-mails from students and fellow teachers. He said he was grateful for those who believed in him and supported him.

“My friends, who are teachers, said they were hoping there had been a mistake,” he said. “You could tell in their tone that they had a lot of sympathy for what was happening to me.”

The case was the talk of Sunny Hills High, where Abbott was a well-liked teacher and former cross country coach. Some students described him as a teacher who knew how to relate to his students.

“I didn’t believe it,” said student Jocelyn Rodriguez, 16. “He’s a very good teacher and all the students like him. He’s just cool.”

Another student, who ran off to class before giving his name, said he empathized with what Abbott has endured for the past two days.

“I just really thought it was messed up that he was embarrassed like that around school and in the public,” he said. “I just didn’t think it was fair.”

Two calls to the Fullerton Police Department this week named Abbott as a criminal suspect. One identified him in a road rage incident and the other labeled him a drug trafficker…

No arrests have been made, but felony charges could be filed in connection with lying to the police and conspiring to plant evidence.

Denmark’s Full of Jerks This Weekend

Posted by Doug Powers On May - 31 - 2008

I was looking for something to take our minds off politics this weekend, and dang if I didn’t find a rather disgusting distraction in Denmark.

It’s a long road as far as preparation goes, but this is when the decades of training and dedication finally pays off:

ISHOJ , Denmark, May 30 (UPI) — Organizers of Denmark’s first “Masturbate-a-thon,” set to be held at a suburban Ishoj nightclub, say more than 60 men and women are registered to compete.

The organizers said participants will masturbate in front of the assembled crowd and will then be judged in several categories — including farthest ejaculation and longest orgasm — the Copenhagen Post reported Friday.

Pia Struck, the organizer of the competition, said she studied under renowned author and sexologist Betty Dodson.

This is something some people have to study for? I guess this is the reason there are instructions on shampoo bottles, because most of us figured it out on our own. Imagine how good we’d be at it if we had masturbation’s version to Mr. Miyagi — a stroke Sensei, if you will, to guide us through the intricacies of the event.

How’d you like to be the tape measure guy at this thing? That runway must be even more disgusting than the Slip n Slide at Elton John’s summertime “beat the heat” party.

If you attend this competition as a spectator, sure, you might get a chance to meet Pee Wee Herman and George Michael, but I’d highly suggest wearing your “going to sit in the first few rows at a Gallagher concert” attire:

A Divorced Dad Song from the 1950s

Posted by Glenn Sacks On May - 30 - 2008

“The last time I saw Marie she was waving me goodbye / With hurry home drops on her cheek that trickled from her eye / Marie is only six years old, information please / Try to put me through to her in Memphis, Tennessee”

I’d been hearing the song “Memphis, Tennessee” by Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry and others for decades without ever realizing what Berry, the song’s author, was talking about. It’s actually a divorced dad song about a father’s severed relationship with his 6-year-old girl, Marie. Ned Holstein of Fathers & Families pointed it out to me the other day, and I felt stupid for not having realized it before.

The lyrics to the song are below, along with a video of Chuck Berry performing it. If you prefer Elvis, you can hear that by clicking here.

We’ll add it to our list of divorced dad songs which includes: Craig Morgan’s Every Friday Afternoon, Trace Adkins’ I’m Tryin’, Doug Supernaw’s I Don’t Call Him Daddy, Toby Keith’s Who’s That Man?, Tim McGraw’s Do You Want Fries With That?, and Sting’s I’m So Happy I Can’t Stop Crying, which was also later recorded by Toby Keith.

Memphis, Tennessee
(Words & Music by Chuck Berry)

Long distance information give me Memphis, Tennessee
Help me find the party trying to get in touch with me
She could not leave her number but I know who placed the call
My uncle took the message and he wrote it on the wall

Help me information to get in touch with my Marie
She’s the only one who’d phone me here from Memphis, Tennessee
Her home is on the Southside, high upon a ridge
Just a half a mile from the Mississippi bridge

Help me information more than that I cannot add
Only that I miss her and all the fun we had
But we were pulled apart because her mom did not agree
Tore apart our happy home in Memphis, Tennessee

The last time I saw Marie she was waving me goodbye
With hurry home drops on her cheek that trickled from her eye
Marie is only six years old, information please
Try to put me through to her in Memphis, Tennessee

Danica Patrick–Spoiled Brat or Getting a Bad Rap?

Posted by Glenn Sacks On May - 30 - 2008

From IRL’s most marketable driver needs attitude adjustment (FOXSports.com, 5/26/08):

“Danica Patrick entered the Indianapolis 500 with confidence in her abilities and her Andretti Green Racing crew.

“But once the checkered flag waved…she looked ready to pick a fight — no matter whether it was another driver or a member of her own team.

“…Ryan Briscoe ran into her on pit road with 29 laps remaining. With her car’s rear suspension mangled beyond repair, the 5-foot-2 racer got out of the car and went straight for Briscoe’s Team Penske pit stall.

“If not for security crews directing her away from her destination, she may have tried to go through every one of them to get to their Australian driver.

“‘It is probably best that I didn’t get down there anyway, isn’t it?,’ she said after the race…

“After running into Briscoe…Her anger boiled over. Patrick may or may not be right in her beliefs about her race-ending accident, but with her attention-grabbing march toward the Penske pits, she gave her critics more ammunition to back their assertions that she is nothing more than an over-hyped, under-talented driver that turns petulant when things don’t go her way.”

This isn’t the first time Danica has done something like this–there was a similar incident last year.

In Defense of Danica

Robert, a reader, says Danica is getting a bad rap. He writes:

“Tony Stewart has been penalized so many times for such actions that it’s got to be coming soon to Saturday Night Live. How about AJ Foyt Jr. (not AJ IV), he was probably one of the original ‘Bad Boys,’ or Dale Earnhadt Sr…

“If I were Danica, and had some bone-head drives across multiple lanes like some idiot in 5:00 traffic, I’d be fuming too, especially if I had been fighting an ill-handling car for 3 hours prior to that, and managed only to hold ground (then again this year was a duel of maintaining momentum, no real dominant cars, so to win you had to minimize errors).

“There comes a time in the sport where you have to at the very least put on the public face that you will fight (figuratively) for your position on the track, otherwise you will soon enough get run over (literally) by every other competitor, less so in open wheel, but nonetheless true.”

Spoiled Brat or Getting a Bad Rap?

As for Estrada’s view that Danica Patrick is a spoiled brat, well, I’ve never liked that stereotype about professional athletes. It is certainly true that professional athletes are privileged in many ways, but they’ve also had to make great sacrifices and often face many hazards.

The “spoiled brat” slur usually is thrown at athletes who speak out against management, demand more pay, criticize alleged racism, or support their sport’s union. Often the players are correct. (This was particularly true during the 1981 baseball players’ strike–a righteous sports strike if there ever was one.) The “spoiled brat” view is usually espoused by people who have no concept of how hard professional athletes have to work, and how many hurdles they have to overcome.

I’m not sure if Patrick is that talented–I know little about pro racing–but she certainly has had to work hard and face many hazards. On the other hand, if there were ever any athlete who would be a spoiled brat, she might qualify–young and privileged by success, fame, and beauty. I’m sure she’s a perfectly decent person, but perhaps a mentor figure in her organization needs to give her a bit of a come-to-Jesus speech about these outbursts.

Photos of a previously undiscovered tribe in the Amazonian rainforest are making the rounds. The discovery is significant because it means Hillary Clinton would no longer be the only person in the Western Hemisphere to be completely unaware that she has no chance of winning the nomination.

At first glance, this story would give us good reason to make this assumption:

Researchers have produced aerial photos of jungle dwellers who they say are among the few remaining peoples on Earth who have had no contact with the outside world.

Taken from a small airplane, the photos show men outside thatched communal huts, necks craned upward, pointing bows toward the air in a remote corner of the Amazonian rainforest.

But something about the aerial photos of the tribe didn’t look right to me. I’ve placed an arrow on one particular picture which points to the suspect area:

When we zoom in and enlarge that section we see this:

Sorry, Hil. But there are a lot more undiscovered tribes out there. You never know, maybe you’re not entirely alone. Keep hope alive!

Why won’t Barack Obama release his medical records?

Posted by Eye Doc On May - 30 - 2008

Is he hiding something,  hmmm?

When John McCain released his medical records, he put a bunch of reporters in a room with thousands of pages of documents for hours on end, let them pore over the records, but did not actually give them copies.

The left went nuts.

The Huffington Post has previously speculated that something must be hidden because of McCain’s delay in release.

Yet, Barack Obama has not released his records.

In a one-page letter released by the campaign, Obama’s longtime physician, Chicago internist Dr. David L. Scheiner, said he was summarizing 21 years of medical records, during which the Democrat suffered only minor problems such as upper respiratory infections.

I thought Obama was open to transparency. I thought he was an open government guy.

What’s in the records that he thinks must be hidden?

McClellan on Olbermann, or Maybe Vice-Versa is More Accurate

Posted by Doug Powers On May - 30 - 2008

Scott McClellan, Bush’s former Press Secretary who just couldn’t believe the horrendous words that were made to come out of his mouth, was on Keith Olbermann’s “Countdown” show last night, and you’d have to pop in a DVD of Bambi to see more fawning.

Here are some select transcripts from the interview.

McClellan’s shins must be getting raw from all the leg-humping he’s getting from liberals lately (read the comments at the HuffPo link) — many of whom consider Bush to be Hitler, but somehow manage to find it in their hearts to love one of Der Fuhrer’s ex-employees.

To think that all those people were strung up at Nuremberg when all they would have had to do to redeem themselves and achieve courageous hero status these days would have been to write a book knocking the propaganda they parrotted, sucked up to a few Jewish moguls and then made an appearance on Keith Olbermann’s program.

Timing is everything.
