Local Fathers’ Activism Heats Up

Posted by Ray Blumhorst On April - 28 - 2008

Fathers4Justice, Los Angeles (F4J) and the National Coalition of Free Men, Los Angeles held there 10th and 11th rallies in the Van Nuys/Sherman Oaks Park in March and April 2008.

Rally day in March was a cool day, but one month can warm things up significantly when you conduct rallies in the San Fernando Valley. Temperatures climbed to 100 degrees for April’s rally.

Within the past month, the Los Angeles District Attorney and one Los Angeles County Supervisor declared a crack down on “deadbeat Dads” at a downtown press conference. One F4J leader, Fred Sottile, appeared in a local TV station report and described the press conference as political grandstanding by local, Los Angeles politicians. Local activists made it abundantly clear that the real deadbeat in Los Angeles is the Los Angeles County government.

Although the heat was on for the April rally, the warm temperature could not deter the spirit and camaraderie of the assembled activists. Keeping the strength and spirit of Fathers strong is a vital part of any wise agenda for Fathers‘ rights.

Caring people attempted to offer a small antidote to the abusive and vilifying ways that gender feminists and local politicians poisonously treat good Fathers (and men). Far too many Dads have entered the beat dead Dads’ graveyard, but with dedicated efforts to focus attention on the issues facing Fathers and men, activists are hopeful of changing the despicable way good Fathers (and men) are being routinely abused in Los Angeles (and American) society.
