The Southern Poverty Law Center has just released its annual “Year in Hate” report noting that, in their opinion, the number of hate groups is now 888, up 44 since 2006.
One of the organizations newly added to the list was the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). In an interview with the Associated Press, FAIR President Dan Stein “vehemently rejected the ‘hate group’ label, and questioned the law center’s motives. FAIR said the center was using smear tactics to boost donations and stifle legitimate debate on immigration.”
