After being rained out of rallies for two months in a row, Fathers 4 Justice, Los Angeles and the National Coalition of Free Men, Los Angeles returned to the Van Nuys/Sherman Oaks Park on Sunday, March 2, 2008.
The morning was cool and brisk with heavy dew covering the lawn. The preceding day had been heavily overcast so it was a welcome sight to see the sun peeking over the apartment buildings at 7 a.m. By 9 a.m., the last tent stake was in the ground and we had only to wait for the heavy dew to burn off so the paper work could be put out without wrinkling.
Once again, we were able to debut a new sign (far left in photo), countering the Father vilifying mainstream media. Once again, we were able to express our commitment to speak well of Fathers. February is President’s month so who better than Abe Lincoln to emphasize the fact that “Fathers Are Great Teachers.”
At 10 a.m., the rally officially began. A steady stream of visitors came to the event throughout the day, voicing their concerns about family law issues.
At Noon, the smell of the barbecue wafted through the SE corner of the park, contributing to the celebration aspect of our rally. One visitor to our rally commented that he hadn’t seen us for a few weeks and wondered if we’d disappeared. “Nah,” we replied, “we have no intention of going away, until justice returns for Fathers in family law courts.” For the foreseeable future, it appears, well be back.
