Gun Sales Exploding

The lamestream media told you:

Nothing.

The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:

Sales by gun and ammunition manufacturers grew by 14% in the first quarter of 2007 compared to the same period a year earlier, according to the firearm industry's best economic indicators — the latest Pittman-Robertson federal excise tax report.

Excise taxes are a percentage of wholesale receipts, taken quarterly from firearm and ammunition manufacturers by the federal government, and earmarked for state wildlife conservation and habitat restoration programs.

From January through March, $70 million was collected for conservation, compared to $61 million in 2006. The latest tax collections suggest sales of $653.9 million during the quarter, not including retail markup or final retail sales. The increase was seen across the board in sales of handguns, long guns and ammunition.

The tremendous and constant support of conservation and the U.S. economy by the gun industry is routinely ignored by the lamestream media for reasons that were unclear at press time.

Normally, 14% growth in an industry would be big news, but no "news" outlets carried this wonderful story.
